Pulimurugan tough one!

Pulimurugan is a superb commercial entertainer. This movie portrayed another face of Mohanlal's acting skills from start to the end, the viewers are taken to various emotions of laughter, anger, rush of blood etc.Every scene in the movie makes an impact with the viewers. It was good to see Mohanlal in an all new avatar. Mohanlal is the main backbone of the movie Pulimurugan. Another bang of The Complete Actor "Mohanlal".I think 2016 year is the year for the Complete actor 'Mohanlal' because his previous films (Oppam, Manamantha and Janatha Garage) released in 2016 and turned as blockbuster. Director Vyshakh done a fantastic job. In Pulimurugan, the director just ripped off an image of Superstar Mohanlal and recreated it in a different man. The story is wafer thin, but the dialogues are Fantastic. Supporting characters like Kamalini Mukherjee, Vinu Mohan, Suraj and other all characters done good job except Namitha. I think the movie not need Namitha's character. I forgot to tell Lal's character and the boy (done's Mohanlals childhood character) They were simply awesome. Another plus point is CGI and VFX. It was awesome. The tigers sequences are amazing. I think in some sequences CGI is not much good as expected but overall the work was fantastic. Peter Hein action choreography simply amazing he done a great job and he gives his best action sequences for Malayalam film industry. Overall it's a must watch movie for all! Go and watch the movie in Theatre because it's a mass entertainer for all.

A movie to watch for its brilliant fight scenes.

This is nothing more than a potboiler

First of all as usual Mohanlal was terrific in this movie. He has performed convincingly in all the fight scenes. But as a movie it won't leave a mark. It has got the best fighting sequence ever witnessed by a Malayalam movie. There is a poor story line with clear starting trouble, evident from the first 20 minutes itself. Director failed to narrate the story properly, it lacks discipline and has disorganized presentation. Fails to create an impact , background score is average and hides its defects by sound effects played in high pitch. Poor screenplay and dialogues makes it dragging and irritating to watch. These shortcomings have been covered up by brilliant cinematography and fight sequence. The hype created by media cannot be justified at all.

Harldly worth the hype - disappointing

One of the worst hyped-up Malayalam movies I've ever seen. The story line is incredible, the script is way below average and the performance is better left undefined. It's a case of a talented actor going over the hill and that the movie has already been such a super hit says how gullible we are as consumers and how our cinematic taste has reached a nadir. Not going into technical superiority since this is what money can buy these days. The movie is poor in terms of creative thought, cohesive screenplay and most unfortunately the incapability to separate a character from a marquee actor. The director had come up with some reasonably good movies but seems to have cowered before the myth that cinema revolves round a salable hero.

Loved it till the very end

Givinng due credit to the positive aspects - The movie as such solely relies on Mohanlal's performance, which is awesome. But team work isn't balanced, though. Siddique's acting, camera work & Peter Hein's stunts were good too. Music is a let down, much suited for a low-bud film, doesn't suit Gopi Sundar's orchestration skills. Sudhir Karamana has been overacting in a few recent movies, which is in stark contrast with that of his father's fantastic controlled acting. Karamana Janardhanan Nair was one of Malayalam's finest. CGI is way better than that in any other south Indian movies released so far, although there are a few flaws which only trained eyes might spot. I wouldn't have noticed any of those, if I hadn't been working in Quality control in Animation Looks like the idea was to air the movie nationally but Jagapathy Babu, the ace Telugu villain's character & script couldn't deliver. Comparisons with Devasuram & Kireedam are hardly justified as both Napoleon & Mohan Raj carried off their equally important roles with flair & left a lasting strong impact. The pack of villains apparently have hurriedly-scripted roles. This is at a time when performance by a total newcomer Ashwin Kumar in Jacobinte swargarajyam was amazingly powerful & realistic. Otherwise the fact that excellent footages of Mohanlal fighting a snake and other scenes shown in teasers - yet removed scenes for optimizing the length of the movie is disappointing. Perhaps shortening stale comedy footage of Namita would have been prudent. Kamalini Mukherjee's expressions are hardly worth commenting- as is apt for any other imported actress, usual in Malayalam. Her casting again, must have had something to do with the intended national market of the movie. Also the stunt sequence while Mohanlal carries his fully grown-up brother while fighting is as ridiculous as watching some archaic Hindi movie. The Hype ..

One time watch only.

This was a movie that generated a lot of hype before release and I was all geared up to criticize the movie but after watching I felt zipped shut. The movie gets into our hearts from the very start. The movie doesn't stand just for its action sequences, it is more of a family entertainer. The story goes in such a pace that you start to admire Murugan and stop questioning his one man army fights. As for the action sequences, the last time we witnessed this type of weapon fights was in Pazhassi Raja and Puli murugan nailed it. Good camera work, graphics, screenplay, direction, acting hell everything went good to keep you entertained till the very end. Kamalinee did her part and it doesn't even feel like she was the new face anymore. The movie has a social impact too, Murugan is a simple man with simple ideals about life. Like the innocent villagers in our country Murugan too is used for the modern man's greed. Another issue is the killing of tigers as it reminds us of all the idiotic laws against killing dogs. What I found interesting about the movie is it does not settle with the current atmosphere and keeps moving. Simplicity in the heart and fierceness in a fight is what Murugan is about. NOT A MOVIE YOU WATCH WHEN YOU HAVE TIME,THIS IS A MOVIE THAT YOU MAKE TIME FOR.

Malayalees seem to be losing their taste for good cinema.

The songs and the scenery in the entire movie is good. But it is very noisy, unnecessary disturbing noises will irritate you, may be some may get head ache too. The jungle villain type character with uniform and gun and hairs like birds nest is actually funny, from no angle he looks like a villain. In one fight sequence the hero is carrying his younger brother and fighting, i don't know why because he could have left him in a safe place fought the villains instead. The action director used more than required brains i guess. Otherwise it is a one time watch movie only.

Superhero Pulimurugan

For I have no idea whatsoever, as to how this trash could rake up 100 crores in Kerala and garner an 8.0 on IMDb. You could see a random Balakrishna/Pawan Kalyan Telugu film and still feel the same that you felt after watching this movie. There isn't even some genuine humour which would put a smile on your face. Mohanlal along with Peter Hein and all the other stunts-men have to be given credit for their efforts though. Also deserving of credit were the animators who did a pretty decent job, considering their limited budget, because believe me, animation is a very demanding job. But when it comes to acting - well, the stalwarts like Mohanlal, Lal and Siddique didn't have much to do here. Jagapathi Babu as "Daddy Girija" was wooden and boring, while Kamalini Mukherjee as the wife was over-acting perfection. Makrand Deshpande seems to have found a new means of living by playing caricatured bad-guy roles in Malayalam cinema. It extremely saddens me to see this pathetic excuse for a movie getting rave reviews and BO collections. There are much more deserving movies out there. 2 stars for the beautiful locale and the efforts of the stunts-men and animators, because this movie, as a whole, holds no merit of its own.

One of Mohanlal's Career Best Action Movies

Pulimurugan is a much hyped action movie.I think it is made to satisfy all the south Indian audience . The fight scenes were typical super hero cliché. Animation was pathetic.Malayalam film has earned a name in film industry with some good movies,I doubt this is not a typical Malayalam movie. As I enjoy good movies with good stories, this one is not at all in any of my list. There are many unwanted characters in this movie. Unexplainable fighting scenes.Forget about acting. There is no scope of acting in this movie.Story!.Animation was a nice try out. That is a good way to start.Even though it is a high grosser thanks to the marketing,it has won hearts of children as the character is a super hero with amazing strength.

A magnificent Action movie

What mainly makes Pulimurugan the huge box office success it has become is undoubtedly the brilliant fight choreography by the acclaimed Peter Hein, very good visual effects(nearly as good as top Hollywood movies), beautiful cinematography and of course Mohanlal's intensity. The physicality that Mohanlal brought to his performance, even at this age, is very commendable. His body language in the action scenes is what makes them paisa vasool, thanks also to excellent action direction by Peter Hein whom Mohanlal regards as the actual Pulimurugan of the movie. Probably, this is the first movie in Malayalam cinema which has stunts of such breathtaking nature. Another highlight are the wonderful performances from rest of the cast. Jagapathi Babu in a negative role as Daddy Girija makes a strong impact. Ajaz Kollam as the younger Pulimurugan is a natural actor, just like Mohanlal! The other actor, Lal as Murugan's uncle gives able support to Mohanlal. Kamalinee Mukherjee as Murugan's wife is good, maybe she struggled in few scenes due to the language barrier. Namitha in a short appearance gives enough oomph factor to the movie. Even Bala(as Daddy's son) and Suraj Venjaramoodu make their presence felt. ..
